Every child is a miracle, but for some of our kids, it’s not been an easy road.
I know I’ve written a little bit about my own experience with my first child, who died shortly after birth. But, I also have another child in my life who has overcome what could have been overwhelming odds–to beat cancer. My stepson, Ethan, is a cancer survivor.
He was diagnosed with cancer at 18 months old, and spent most of the next few years in-and-out of the UNM Children’s Hospital. He got to know the doctors and nurses there very well over those years, and they saved his life.
The docs, nurses and staff–as well as the many other kids and families–are all part of our family. That’s part of why Ethan is so excited to participate in every fundraising activity or related event at the UNM Children’s Hospital. He always says that he wants to help other kids, to make them feel better.
So, we’ve been excited to be a part of Radiothon 2014. And, we ask that you give if you are able… to support the kids.
Thank you, Don, for sharing the story of the help for Children’s cancer patients to survive. Hope and pray that many more another pint size hero, will survive, be well, and to grow up!!
I had no idea about your son and stepson.
I hope they are able to raise a lot of money for this worthy cause.
