Ok here is one we all can get on board with, French Toast and what can make that yummy goodness better, make it into a casserole. To give more it more of your own touch, add some fruit to it, before or after the trip to the oven, heck I know people who have added sausage and/or bacon to it. What makes a recipe so great is you can make it your own by adding or taking away what you like to it, so go out there and go wild. Ok, here is what you need:
- Prep time 30 mins.
- Cook time 50 mins
- Ready in 1 hr 20 mins.
- Serves 4
5 cups bread cubes
4 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1/4 cup white sugar, divided
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon margarine, softened
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 cup of sliced strawberries (optional)
1 cup of whip cream (optional)
1 cup of powdered sugar (optional)
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Lightly butter an 8×8 inch baking pan.
- Line bottom of pan with bread cubes. In a large bowl, beat together eggs, milk, 2 tablespoons sugar, salt and vanilla. pour egg mixture over bread. Dot with margarine; let stand for 10 minutes.
- Combine remaining 2 tablespoons sugar with 1 teaspoon cinnamon and sprinkle over the top. Bake in preheated oven about 45 to 50 minutes, until top is golden.
- Serve with sliced strawberries, powdered sugar and whip cream on top (optional)
